Have you ever wanted to know what civilians would have grown in their garden during the Civil War?
Today, Hettie Shriver's garden has been transported to the past, and features the herbs, plants and vegetables that Hettie would have grown herself in 1863.
Join Shriver House Tour Guide & Gardener, Gayle Underwood, for a morning spent in Hettie’s garden discussing historic plants, herbal remedies, & gardening techniques. Light refreshments will be provided. You are welcome to bring a chair or stool. In the event of rain or inclement weather, the discussion will be held into the Garden Room, just behind the Shriver House Gift Shop.
All participants will receive a plant from the garden to plant at home.
$15/youth; $18/ACHS members; $20/general admission.
